ABOUT JAMES CRAWLEY
James spent much of his childhood visiting National Trust properties all over the U.K, which sparked a passion for architecture and interiors. He studied Architecture at the University of Nottingham, which gave him a basis for practical design. Shortly after graduating he embarked on his first interior design project - the complete renovation of a Georgian farmhouse. It was purchased in a dilapidated state and had been unsympathetically altered in the mid 20th Century. After 18 months of painstaking work the property was complete and went on to win the title of 'Best Country House' in the 2011 Period Living Readers' awards. Shortly after, James started working as an interior designer at Nicholas Haslam Ltd, a prestigious company based in Chelsea, London. During his time there he worked on numerous national and international high-end residential projects. He learnt the trade quickly and after a few years set up on his own. He has completed various projects all over the U.K, both big and small. His passion is mixing antique furniture, particularly dating from the 18th Century, with mid 20th Century style and modern accents too. He believes the architecture and feel of a property should determine its style of interior, and pays little attention to whether an item has been bought from eBay or Christies. For James, it is what feels right for an interior space, which has led him to design the interiors of large country houses as well as terraced student properties. Whether someone is simply looking for a new sofa, trying to source furniture/antiques or looking for a complete interior design service there is no project too big or too small - it is the client's satisfaction that James is concerned with.
